Fundraising Ideas

Whether you’re an individual, a family, or a group of friends, there are countless creative ways to make a difference. Check out these engaging fundraising ideas that can help us provide nutritious meals for children in need.

Here are 20 great ways to fundraise to help you get started!

  • Keep the change: For the next few weeks, pay for everything you can in cash. Keep the change in a jar. Watch it add up quickly! When you reach your goal, bring the coins to FMSC or exchange the coins for cash at your local bank.
  • Neighborhood car wash: Set up a car wash in your driveway and invite friends and neighbors to donate for a clean car.
  • Backyard movie night: Host a movie night in your backyard. Charge an admission fee and provide popcorn and drinks for a fun family experience.
  • Bake sale: Gather your friends and family for a bake sale! Everyone can contribute their favorite baked goods and you can set up a table at a local park or neighborhood gathering. Delicious treats for a good cause!
  • Silent auction: Host a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses. Promote the event through social media to attract attendees.
  • Skip the soda: When you eat out, drink water instead of soda. Put the money you would have spent on soda in your “donation jar.”
  • Mini M&M’S Tubes: Individual mini M&M’s tubes are sold at FMSC sites and meal-packing events around the United States. Enjoy the candy. Return the tubes filled with quarters. Each filled M&M’s tube fits 56 quarters ($15 donation) and funds 48 MannaPackTM meals!
  • Coin boxes: Put a coin box in a common area of your home, church or business. Suggest a donation equal to the cost of a fast food meal or a movie ticket.
  • Lemonade stand: Invest in supplies for lemonade, tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Create your own treat stand and raise money for FMSC by selling what you make!
  • Crafts for a cause: Kids can create handmade crafts (like friendship bracelets or greeting cards) to sell, with all proceeds going to help starving children.
  • Pet sitting: Offer pet sitting or dog walking services in the neighborhood, collecting donations for your time and effort.
  • Simple supper: To gain a better understanding of what a meal is like for many hungry families around the world, serve your family only potatoes or rice for dinner one night. Put the money you saved on that meal toward your donation.
  • Birthday fundraiser: Instead of gifts, ask friends and family to donate to your chosen cause for your birthday.
  • Matching gifts: Ask a friend, family member or even your employer to join in and help match what you raise!
  • Restaurant fundraiser: Ask a restaurant in your community to host a fundraiser and have the profits go to FMSC.
  • Garage sale: Ask your friends and family to donate their unwanted items to be used for a garage sale. Let them know any proceeds you make will be donated to FMSC.
  • Bottle and can collection: Create a flyer that you can post around your neighborhood or in your neighbor’s mailboxes asking for recyclable cans and bottles. Be sure to include a collection date on your flyer and let them know you’ll be taking the money received from the collection to FMSC.
  • Talent show: Organize a neighborhood talent show where your neighbors can showcase their skills for a donation.
  • Pet wash: Set up a pet washing station where you can offer to bathe your community’s pets for a fee.
  • Pledge challenge: Kids can ask family and friends to sponsor them in a challenge, such as reading a certain number of books.
