Conflict in Ukraine: 3 years later

Conflict in Ukraine: 3 years later

Three years of war in Ukraine have left a devastating impact on millions. Families have been torn apart, homes reduced to rubble and entire communities forced to flee. Beyond the immediate destruction, the conflict has triggered a global food crisis, disrupting supply chains and leaving countless people struggling to access essential resources. According to the World Food Programme, close to 6 million Ukrainians are still living as refugees across Europe and another 3.6 million are internally displaced.

As the war continues, its ripple effects are felt far beyond Ukraine’s borders, reshaping economies and the daily lives of people around the world.

Anastasia*, 13 years old, lives with her family near an area of active war. Her parents are doing the best they can to provide a home and education for Anastasia and her siblings. During the day, they study with their mother while their father goes to work. Although their father works tirelessly six days a week, they struggle to make ends meet.

Amidst the ongoing crisis, Anastasia’s family has received FMSC meals through our partner Mission Eurasia. When the team recently visited them to deliver food, Anastasia and her family were thrilled — yet while they were receiving the meals, air raid sirens began to go off. The volunteers asked what the family does when this happens. Anastasia’s mother said, “We have nowhere to go. There are no shelters nearby. We just wait for them to stop and then we relax.” Anastasia then added, “We are no longer afraid of the sounds of explosions or flying missiles. We are used to them.”

While the conflict has now approached the 3-year mark, FMSC partners have been on the ground, helping local families. And they’ll continue to stay.

We are living through the biggest hunger crisis in modern history and your response is making a real difference every day — helping those like Anastasia and her family. Your gifts today will continue to provide lifechanging meals in critical situations — like the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Will you give today?
