Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit
Globally, the world hunger crisis reached shocking levels in 2024. “Catastrophic hunger” (IPC definition) has doubled, and Haiti now faces the worst hunger emergency in the Western Hemisphere. Every day, we hear from partners asking for more food to meet the overwhelming needs in their communities.
But the story of 2024 isn’t one of defeat — not even close.
This year has been defined by bold milestones, extraordinary challenges and an unwavering commitment to the work God has called us to, turning hunger to hope.
- In Fargo, North Dakota, more than 27,000 volunteers braved sub-zero temps and blizzard-like conditions to pack nearly 10 million meals — one of the largest MobilePack™ events in FMSC history.
- In Ukraine, our food distribution partners continue to risk everything to deliver lifechanging food to families caught in the ongoing war.
- In Texas, storm damage forced our Richardson packing site to close, relocate to a temporary space and finally return home — proving resilience in the face of disruption.
- In the Philippines, we launched a new PBFA (Project Based Food Assistance) program, empowering families to drive sustainable change in their community.
- In Arizona, we celebrated the opening of a new packing site in Tempe, bringing fresh opportunities to serve, even as we said goodbye to our longtime Mesa location.
- Globally, your FMSC MarketPlace™ purchases continue to empower artisans and support communities around the world.
- And every day, kids like Gabriel escape the tightening grip of hunger and are now thriving.
The story of 2024 was written by the FMSC community — volunteers, donors, MobilePack™ hosts, FMSC MarketPlace artisans and shoppers, food distribution partners and staff — coming together to meet crisis with compassion.
Through every challenge, the FMSC community showed up. You packed meals, gave generously and kept the hope of a better future alive for children in the hardest places.
This year also marks a new chapter for FMSC as we prepare to say goodbye to our CEO, Mark Crea, who will retire after over 20 years of leadership. Under Mark’s guidance, FMSC grew into the organization it is today — resilient, determined and deeply committed to feeding God’s children. His legacy is woven into the story of 2024 and beyond.
As the year comes to a close, we’re reminded that every meal packed, every dollar donated and every prayer shared is part of this story. It’s a story of unwavering compassion, and it’s one we couldn’t tell without you. Thank you.
